Coronavirus Update

Level 2 has arrived so we can train together again!

With the announcement of Level 2 Government guidelines I look forward to meeting lots of new dogs and people in the coming weeks. I will also continue to offer my services through live training online ongoing for anyone around NZ however, especially if you need to stay in isolation beyond the Level 3 period.

Keeping my clients and myself safe

Some of my family members are high risk so it’s very important for me personally to stay healthy and not put them at risk. I also want all of my clients and their families to remain safe and healthy too, so I will be taking Government guidelines very seriously.

Contact Tracing

  • Individual contact tracing forms are required to be filled in and signed by all clients

Cleanliness and Hygiene

  • Handwashing is essential for both myself and all clients pre and post sessions

  • Any of my own equipment that I use in training will be cleaned and sanitised before and after appointments

  • During Level 2 if I need to bring specialty items for demonstration such as enrichment or activity-specific items, I will let you know beforehand and these will be cleaned as above. If you do not wish me to bring these items, please let me know.

Social Distancing and Groups

  • 1m+ social distancing will be required between myself and any other known clients at in-home or outdoor sessions

  • In any outdoor environment we will adhere to physical distancing guidelines (2m+) for anyone who is not a client listed on the contact tracing form

  • I consider (where safe) that contact with your dog by known people is acceptable however I would recommend cleaning of any items, including leads, harnesses and collars if they are touched by anyone outside your home, including myself, during training sessions.

  • Classes will allow a maximum of 9 people in them to maintain Government guidelines (physical distancing of 1m+ will be required, including between dogs)

Contactless Pick Up

  • If you opt for the Accelerated Training sessions I am happy for this to be a contactless pick-up if you can safely leave your dog outdoors (details to be confirmed with owners)

Stay home if you are sick!

  • Cancellation fees will be waived for anyone who feels unwell at any time prior to their booking (including classes) – please stay home if you feel sick!

  • I also ask my clients to be patient if I do need to cancel last minute due to any concerning symptoms – your health is my priority!

How has lockdown impacted on your dog’s behaviour?

Some of you have reported happier dogs or dogs who’ve barely noticed you’re home more! However common things I’m hearing following lockdown:

  • My dog has become really ‘clingy’ and they are more upset when I leave now

  • I have a puppy and I’m worried they missed out on socialisation during lockdown

  • My dog has started to destroy things or toilet indoors when I go to work / leave the house

  • My dog is dog/people/other reactive and I’m worried that isolation made it worse

  • My dog has separation anxiety, and lockdown has made it worse – what do I do?

I’m here to help!

There’s no question that the last few weeks have been an unusual time for humans and animals alike. We can’t change what happened during lockdown, but we can help to make sure that any problem behaviours you’re noticing are addressed before they become lifelong habits.

Whether it’s addressing problem behaviours or getting proactive and teaching them new things for their development (especially for puppies and young dogs!). Socialisation isn’t just for puppies, dogs of all ages can benefit from positive experiences with new things in our world. See more about this here.

Training Services

I have reinstated all of my training options as below with online options available for almost all except those that require in-person handling:

I look forward to helping dogs and their families transition to Level 2 and help them enjoy steps towards our ‘new normal’ with greater confidence and happiness.

If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to get in touch.

Stay safe, stay healthy and be kind - we’re almost there!
